Will I be just as well staying at home to look after my own children?

Having been in your position and decided to jack in work and become a SAHM I would strongly advise against it - it is nigh on impossible to get back into the workplace and I have ended up taking minimum wage rubbish jobs in care and retail. It stinks.
Hold on to your job. Accept the fact that for a few short years you're probably not going to see any financial benefits for doing so,but as soon as all your kids are in school it'll start to pay. The childcare bill for your 3 year old will decrease shortly too.
Don't do it, please, keep your job. It's my biggest regret in life.
I agree, its better to suck up the childcare costs for a couple of years than leave the workplace. Its far harder to get a job when you havent worked for a while as employers have the choice of many applicants.
Theres also lots of other factors to consider, adult company, keeping your identity, helping with finances (its a huge pressure being the sole earner and supporting another adult who chooses not to), showing children than mums can work and parent etc.
Also if anything bad happens in future, you'll already be working and able to support the children.0 -
Hi
I have been a working mum & sucked up all related costs for my now 18yr old daughter (no tax credits then!!) i worked my way up to a decent position & salary did my daughter miss out YES how do i know because i now have a 3 & 1 yr old & gave my notice in at xmas as i would be on a minus after childcare costs my small children now get to go to enjoy a variety of different things thoughout the week - they are both independant, confident & happy in other peoples company am i happy yes the majority of the time i have adult company at playgroups etc & have also kept my own identity by being on a childrens parent board & supporting local childrens services - something i never would have had time for before - will i go back to my career no but i shall return to paid employment.
I dont think that i could say what is best for anyone else you have to decide for yourself what would make you happier - as happy mum = happy children - 18yrs ago work did now it doesnt

I stayed at home and it was the happiest time of my life, I'd go back now if I could.
I have studied at home and now have a good job that I really enjoy and the pay isn't too bad.
Good luck

I just can't see the point in working for £10 a week & missing out on your children growing up.0
