Replacing glass panel with plain white panel?

I have huge windows in my lounge and dining room but they are sectioned into a large long panel at the bottom (whole width of window but only bottom half and then the top half is split into two glass panels one of which is a window) I would like to replace the bottom half with a plain white panel but is that possible and would it be expensive? I know that in a previous house we had a double glazed front door and when the bottom glass panel was kicked in by a thief the glazier replaced it with a plain white panel.

yes you can replace them with white panels. ask any local DG company.
as for costs? no idea for the large ones, but the small ones for doors are not expensive.Get some gorm.0 -
in that case, it'll be easy - just ask a local DG company to replace the panels - a quick and easy job. However, if you don't want to block too much light in the room, why not get the lower ones replaced with some obscured glazing instead of big lumps of white plastic? Can get a really nice 'satin' sandblasted effect these days. We've done this and it gives a nice soft light and privacy.
If you go for glass, it'll have to be toughened or laminated - the latter of which will provide better security IMO.My PV system: South West England, 10x 250Wp Trina Solar panels, Fronius Inverter, South facing roof, 35° pitch with no shading.0 -
Thanks I'll ring round a few placed but since the windows that I want to replace are 230cm X 80cm I suspect it's going to be expensive! Thanks anyway Ormus.

on a budget?
maybe you could replace the panel with marine plywood, painted white?
just a thought.Get some gorm.0 -
I'm not sure if that would be very warm? At least the plastic panels might offer some insulation? Although the prices look prohibitive - £150 per window is the lowest so far?

white sticky back plastic or specialist paint on existing glass?, or if you wanted frosted film, I'm sure that's available too. Have a wee google for glazing security film or similar. My PV system: South West England, 10x 250Wp Trina Solar panels, Fronius Inverter, South facing roof, 35° pitch with no shading.0
