Extending travel insurance

I'm currently on holiday in Canada. When I originally came over I was only planning to stay till the end of January. However a change of circumstances means I am staying till mid April. My insurance however only ran till the end of January. I've gone onto comparison websites looking to get new insurance for the rest of the trip, however each one I have gone to has stated that if I start new insurance then I have to be leaving from the UK on that date for the insurance to be valid. So i'm wondering what do I do in this situation where I want to extend my travel insurance.
Thanks

Contact your insurer and explain the circumstances why you are staying away longer than booked for and ask them to extend your cover.0

Something similar happened to me some years ago, and I simply phoned my insurer and extended the period of cover - although I did do this before the initial period expired, I don't know if that would have made a difference.I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0

If you need a new policy after you have left the UK you can try https://www.worldnomads.com or https://www.worldwideinsure.com0
