Well, it might be a warning if it was at all clear what actually happened.
At the moment it's looking as if you paid a deposit but the forgot both the account details and the method of payment so they can't link you with an account on which a deposit has been paid.
That's not really any reason why anyone else should avoid the company.
If they lose those sort of details what else do they lose?'The More I know about people the Better I like my Dog'

So your happy to deal with a company that don't link the fact (no matter how you paid) that you have paid a deposit.
If they lose those sort of details what else do they lose?
No but from what the OP has said she is the one who has lost the details. (Or, if she paid, both she and the site have lost the details.)
Either you know your account and the method you used to fund it or you don't.
If you have the details you can tell the company: "I paid a deposit by this method for this account on this date" and if they don't sort it out then they are effectively committing a fraud. The OP doesn't seem to know how she paid. If she paid by Paypal then there should be a record of it. Similarly with bank or credit card.
With the best will in the world you can hardly expect a company to do something without some concrete information about the payment. There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -
I know exactly which card I used and which email address. It seems that their computer decided that I was suddenly a guest, and therefore sent the question but did not send the reply to the only email address there is for me. Yes, I know it makes no sense. Anyway, havign been a 'guest', I had no answer (I didn't know I had an account elsewhere as 'guest), but they took the £11 anyway. It's refundable, but they are not refunding.0
