Wednesday 9th February - what small DFW things will you be doing today?

  • Walking home from work tonight for me which saves £1.20;
    Had a cheap lunch today in the work canteen;
    Picked up some cut price veg crisps and dried pineapple for snacks this week from the bargain corner of the health food shop this morning;
    And I won two free tickets to a concert on Saturday evening to add to the other free tickets for another gig next week too.
    Almost debt-free, but certainly even with the Banks!

    Pernicious- thanks for the heads up :beer: will go to Wilko's after work instead :)

    Alibear- that buyer sounds like a right idiot, you don't have to stand for it, if you listed them as used and went to the trouble of having them reheeled (which most people wouldn't have bothered to do) then you've done nothing wrong at all and she's just being plain unreasonable :mad:

    Thanks. She was perfectly polite (esp as I took a little longer than I intended to send them thru being ill/mega busy at work) but said I'd stated I'd 'hardly worn them' (I said I'd worn them a few times but had them reheeled etc - BIG difference in wording!) and there were scuffs on the heels. THEY'D BEEN WORN! I'm an honest person and if the scuffs were worthy of note I'd have said. And she paid less than a tenner for them! I thought I'd calmed down about this but clearly not!!

    :wave: Well a big warm good afternoon one and all!!! Lots of newcomers, welcome to you all!!! tis a lovely place isn't it?:D

    I have been soooooooooo distracted the last couple of days. My DD has been shortlisted for a JOB!!! I am nervous and excited, and my emotions are all over the place!!! Her interview in this Friday!!! She phoned me at work the other day to tell me the news, she was gobsmacked and didn't even think she would get a reply never mind an interview. Wells she been researching, practising, making notes, getting advice from her mates at work. They have been fantastic to say the least. Gosh peeps, lets cross our fingers and hope she gets it!!:D

    I haven't done much to be honest, as since Monday evening DD and I have just been chatting about her interview. But I have done:

    Read loads of post on here, including keeping an eye on you lot:rotfl:. You've all had so much going on and so busy!!! achieving your little goals. Lovely to read.

    Played beads with Fluffy, although he has been a bit annoyed at me at times for not paying him any attention. But Snoop will get back on the ball and have lots of special time with him in the next couple of days. :D

    Checked bank,

    Plan meals with carer.

    Heating is off again today!!! Opened the window but have to be careful incase Fluffy does a Jump!!

    Later will play mock interview with DD:D

    Do armchair workouts. My neck is very stiff at the moment and my eyes are feeling heavy.

    Phone mum for quick chat

    Read news online

    I am absolutely starving, but will wait for DD to come home so we can munch together:D

    So thats it for me you lovely people!!! Have a wonderful day and keep smiling!!!:T

    Sandwiches for lunch.
    Free tea and biscuits at office meeting.
    Drove slowly to work. Will drive home slowly.
    Hotel soap, body wash and shampoo used this morning from last year's holiday
    Stay in tonight.
    Read office newspaper, I don't buy one.
    Window shopping at lunchtime, no purchases. Good walk means I don't have to worry about taking out a gym membership but still stay fit.
    Counted up what I would normally have frittered away on impulse sweets, crisps etc and look on this as savings.
    No spend day.
    Check bank and savings balances.
    Wearing slightly worn shirt, I reckon I can get another couple of months out of it before I have to buy a new one.
    Central heating off during the day when I am out.
    Water with meal tonight instead of costly fizzy drink.

  • Morning Lily....can you add the smiley face to the thread title pretty please? (Makes it easy for half asleep me to find;)) - you can do it in advanced edit:D

    Sorry, obviously not quite as awake as I thought I was! (only just back in so huge apologies if anyone couldn't find the thread)

    - [STRIKE]check bank[/STRIKE] :eek: it's going to be so tight, I know it's better to look than bury my head but it's so depressing and scary every time I check, not nice, having one of those days which hasn't helped matters! :(

    Oh, I really sympathise with you on this one, I'm getting better at checking my accounts but still get nervous about it but, it's def better than head burying (I used take a load of cash out on payday & never go near the bank/check all month and always ended up with charges etc).

    I was away overnight in York last night (for work) so raided the hotel room of all of its toiletries, tea, coffee and sugar this morning (sadly no biscuits though).:D

    Ohhhh Karb, I have to admit to being a bit jealous, I used to live in York and really, really miss being there - hoping to manage a couple of days down there in May (if I can keep putting away a wee bit into my hol fund each month).

    Welcome to all the newcomers, hugs to anyone who needs them.

    Today hasn't gone as planned, I've had a stonking headache since about 9:30. Finished work @ 1, came home and had to go & lie in dark room :(, everytime I tried to get up the sledgehammer started again.

    Bit better now but just a quick visit as looking at screen prob isn't going to help!
