microsoft office

Have got a trial version of ms office which came with a new laptop - really silly question time now - will I have to go out and buy ms office when this trial version ends?

    Yes, when the trial expires, it will stop working. You will then either have to buy it, or install something else.
    If you just want basic Word/Excel features, then there are a couple of free open source programs that should do what you want, OpenOffice is the most common, but there is a spinoff LibreOffice which is becoming more popular.
    Both will read/write Word and Excel files.
  • If there is a student in the house then you can get a cheaper version of MS Office(professional) circa 40 quid (1 PC version), plus other deals
