Help with old Confederation Life policies

Dear All
I am helping my brother with his home paperwork following a messy divorce, and came across 2 old Confederation Life policies (a 10yr endownment & 20y family protection plan). Both policies have since expired and my brother has also found out that Conf Life went into liquidation.
Does anyone know whether any funds can be obtained from old policies, and if so, what the procedure is. The added problem is that the assurance co has gone bust. I have done some research on the web and emailed another company, but wanted to check with the forum if I am wasting mine and my brother's time.
Thank you in advance.

Try Sun Life Assurance of Canada.
It's also possible that the FSCS scheme may provide some protection as well.

Sun Life of Canada did take over Confederation Life.
However, if it was a pure protection contract, then it the family protection product probably has no value.0
