Need Advise: Can you have more then one Current Account?

Hello Everyone.

First post for me here.

Currently I have a current account open which I have no issues with, so in short I don't want to switch my current account.

The problem I'm having is eBay's Paypal is charging me fees each time I get a payment from someone, I'm unable to return my account back to a personal one since I done so before.

A friend of mine suggested I open another current account and create a 2nd PayPal account, which PayPal said is fine for me to do.

However, I'm not sure if I can do this or not?

Is it ok to have more the one current account?

And if so, how do I go about opening a 2nd account, without having to switch? Seems all these online banks like smile and CAHOOT, are asking for my current bank details, for the purpose of switching I guess.

Can anyone explain to me how I can go about getting a 2nd current account?

Thanks in Advance.

Yes, you can have more than one current account. Make sure the new current account you go for doesn't have any conditions like paying in a salary if you don't intend to do so.

I would suggest leaving the 'current bank account details' question blank and see what happens.

  • You can certainly have more than one current account: I have three joint ones with my husband and one joint one with my son! (The First Direct one is about to go though due to monthly fees being introduced).

I haven't opened any of them online though. I suggest as the other poster says, leave that section blank.
