New Rights for small shareholders

Hi all,

Thought I would post this as I saw it on the BBC News website:

Looks like you will get all shareholder perks even if your holding is in a nominee account! At last!

Um, sorry, no; shareholders with nominee account holdings will get the same rights as those with certificated or CREST holdings. The chief exec of the Share Centre is asking the individual firms to extend the perks scheme as well but this would be purely voluntary and I wouldn't hold my breath.

The new law does not cover getting shareholder perks in nominee accounts but things like receiving annual reports and attending AGM's.
