MOT advice needed

Hi

Was hoping someone would be able to help.

I currently have a car on our driveway that has no insurance and is also SORN. I bought the car off a mate recently and have not yet passed my test but hope to soon.

However, the MOT is due towards the end of March. Do I have to have the MOT renewed straightaway or can i wait until i pass my test and then insure and tax and renew the MOT all as soon as possible?

Many thanks

Dave

It can stay on your drive for as long as you want, providing it is sorned.
Eventually when you pass your test you'll have to insure it, then you can drive it for the mot and back, if it passed you can then tax it.
It must stay off the road until then.

just to add to the info above,as it is sorned to take for MOT i am fairly certain you need to actually book it for MOT rather than just going a test centre without an appointment.

Quite right, pre-booked MOT is required.

Insure it 1st then MOT at a pre-booked MOT station that is reasonably close to the SORN address. Not 200 miles
away as one posted asked. You need to make sure its booked in with the cars correct reg number.

    And insurance.

If you don't want to insure it until you're sure its pased the MOT, ask the garage to come and collect it - they can use their trade plates.
