I need advice please

I use mcafee security - earlier tonight i got a message to say it was not running so i reset it. It always runs in the background

Just now I was just looking on google when suddenly a different page appeared saying i have 5 threats and that my computer is affected

tells me to open laoaderav_2004-2_rs2.ex

Should I take any notice of this?

I have run a quick scan on mcafee and it is showing no issues

It is a fake message to get you to download malware, do NOT action it,close your computer down and restart it. Then run anti-virus and malware checks.

    NO - Absolutely not !!!!
That is probably a virus itself

First thing, please remove the link from your post before someone accidentally clicks it.

Second, download MalwareBytes and install/update/scan/fix what it finds, and then post the log here.

I would highly recommend ditching mcrapafee and using avira or avast instead :)

Yes, the log is clean - so hopefully you avoided a problem by sensibly checking before clicking the link.
I would maybe run a hijackthis scan to be sure, and post the log here - don't fix anything, as most of the stuff will be genuine.

After that, you just need to check if McAfee is running properly or not, and run a scan with that when you get chance. You should be able to tell from the status in the McAfee control center if it's active.
It's not my favorite AV program either, but I assume you have a paid subscription.
