Forced to move blocks..Disturbance allowance entitlement?

Hi there.
We are currently accommodated in slam grade 1 accommodation at a RAF base. Due to a influx of senior ranks moving over, we have been told we are to move out of our current blocks, so they can move in, by no later than 1st may, to be relocated in other, smaller slam accommodation.
Firstly, we have been told we are not entitled to disturbance allowance. Does anyone know if this is true as i was under the impression we should get it if being forced to move.
Secondly, we originally got told we would definitely be in these blocks until october, resulting in people taking out contracts, such as bt phone lines, knowing they would see out there contract before moving. Due to this move being brought forward, is there any way we can claim back for the amount it will cost to relocate a phone line etc.
Finally, the rooms we are currently in are rather large, with people buying sofas etc for there rooms. there is no way we could fit these into new the new blocks. Is it just tough luck for us, and either pay to store it elsewhere or bin it, or is there any other alternatives? Such as storage elsewhere on camps being available for such situations.
Many thanks in advance for any advise you can give.

Oh and finally forgot to mention. I also raised the quesion about people ho were away from now until after the move date. Apparently if you are not there to move they will request people from your place of work to do it for you, boxing up all your stuff. Not overly happy about it. was wondering where theyd stand if i came back to my thousand pound tv damaged, or missing something. So many questions!!!0

Is this Brize by any chance?
Go and have a look at JSP 464 - TSARS (which is available on the internet), this should answer the majority of your questions. It should have been made clear to you on March In that it is an over entitlement and unfortunately if the larger rooms are required then you would be forced to move.
May be worth talking to your PSF and seeing if there is anything they can help/doCabot (0%) left to pay £2455 let the overpayments commence!0 -
JSP 752 will answer your DA question.0

I dont know how up to date this will be, as my experience is from a good 8-9 years ago, but I and my friends, were in quite large rooms on a Tri service naval base.....we all had the same basically. we all then had to move into a so called temporary accomadation block, which was meant for students on short courses of a few weeks. (we were there for 3 years) it caused huge uproar. as most people had double beds and loads of stuff, but basically we got told "tough" . most people had to get rid of a lot of stuff like fridges, sofas etc as the new rooms were less than half the size of the previous ones. I was lucky as I kept my room for an extra 3 weeks as was getting married and my point was I was not getting rid of all my stuff and then having to buy new again when I moved into quarters, but boy did I have to fight for it. this was Army so dont know if this is different for the RAF, or if you are eligble for any sort of compensation/ insureance etc. as it was , once everyne had moved, the old rooms stayed empty for over a year, and they changed there minds as what they were going to use them for......so all in all, a pretty pointless exercise.0

Yes there is, for Service or Welfare reasons.
07.0111. Mid-assignment Moves. DA is only payable for mid-assignment moves where the move of accommodation is for Service reasons.0 -
JSP 752 Article 07.0106 (e):
Non-Qualifying Moves. The following moves are ineligible for DA:
e. For moves between SLA within the same Unit.

No DA in this senario, fact.
The phones etc is a real pain but unit CO's are under pressure to restrict moves for this reason
Furniture too big? welcome to frustration ville. Population 178000.
On a plus side, your SLA is cheaper on rent i would wager than a nearby 1 room flat?
If youn deploy, you are supposed to box up your room in case you A)Die orget relocated.
Few units bother to do this but i would be V uncomfortable moving a colleagues stuff.Marry a Foreigner, its so much cheaper!0 -
