Fast ticket collection

Hiya
My son is currently doing a residential course away from home for 12 weeks.
He has decided he wants to come home this weekend. I want to book him some fast tickets for the train but it says he will need the card that the tickets were bought with which of course will be here with me. He has also realised when he came home a few weeks ago (we went to collect him and drop him off last time but it's a few hundred miles round trip) that he has left his bank card here
Is there anyway around this? I know I can order tickets for next day delivery to be sent to his college but we're not sure if the reception will sign for recorded delivery that and it would cost an extra £7.50 to do this.
Thanks in advance for any replies

Put some money in his bank account and get him to go into branch to withdraw cash.
Cheque maybe, but you'll tell me he hasn't got that either?
How does he normally get money to live through those twelve weeks?
Then he can buy train ticket.0 -
He only has his passport with him for ID which he needed when he enrolled. That and his college student card.
As I said he came home 2 weeks ago and left his bank card here. He shouldn't need much money as we paid full board for him to stay so all his food and drink is paid for. We sent him back with lots of snacks etc to keep him going 2 weeks ago.
The course which he is doing is just 12 weeks so he will only have to do it once.
We have decided to see if the college will sign for tickets for him and get them sent special delivery to him. It's nice to be nutty but's more important to be nice0 -
There used to be (in the distant past) a method whereby you paid for the tickets at you local station and they could be collected at the station he is departing from. Not sure if this still happens but might be worth asking your local station.
Or as other have said put some money in his bank account and he can then draw it out and buy the ticket.IT Consultant in the utilities industry specialising in the retail electricity market.

Its possible to do a SILK arrangement but this will cost £10 and has to be done on the day IIRC"If you no longer go for a gap, you are no longer a racing driver" - Ayrton Senna0

An option would be to pay for the tickets on card, post your/his card to him so he can collect.
Obvious flaws are card goes missing.0 -

Yep has to be done on the day; £10 admin fee; and can only buy a full price single ticket - ie the most expensive - usually Standard Day Single or Standard Open Single.Jan: Nikwax Footwear Cleaning Gel (instant win); Football tickets; Magazine subscription (x5); £70 Sports Direct vouchers; ESPN Goals subscription; £10 Amazon voucher.

If you're not too far from the local station, I would go to buy the tickets in person (note down which times you want/are cheap before you go), then post the tickets to your son 1st class. Or buy them online for collection from your local station rather than the departure station, if ticket office queues or opening times are an issue.0
