Hopefully not too OT but my daughter is off with Trek America this summer with some day extra before and after. It is good to see the positive feedback which is also backed up with our daughters dealings with TA so far - most helpful. We are looking at travel insurance and although the TA one seems a bit dear it does seem to be the easier option. Has anyone else got any recommendations on insurance for a TA trip?0

I travelled with trek america, was awesome. Was nice to travel with a big group of people. You get to see sooo much in a small amount of time, it would cost you a lot more if you travelled on your own. It was one of the best experiences of my life, you wake up everyday knowing that it could be the best day of your life
My favourite day was staying with the navajo tribe! Speaking about this is making me REALLY want to go again =(

I used to work for sta travel and we sold trek a lot. As said by others, generally good feedback and offers lots you wouldn't get doing it yourself. Depends on what you're after and what you like tough, of course. If you like the look of it then I reckon you won't be disappointed. And if, you know, your history...0

I did the Pacific Dream tour with Trek America, which took us in a circle around the west coast. It was one of the best experiences and has now made me really keen to travel. We had a lovely tour leader, friendly mixed (age, sex, gender, nationality) group and brilliant iternery. If you want an 'active' holiday without the stress of having to plan it, then I strongly suggest going through Trek America. Whilst some of the tours are fairly pricey, what you're saving in time and gaining in company is definitely well worth it. In my group, we all tipped our tour leader together at the end, which is a nice way to say 'thankyou', for he managed all our additional requests and excursions, negotiated the best prices, found the perfect places to visit and camp and even gave us a running commentary whilst travelling in the van. It really was money well spent0

I would more than recommend Trek America for the experience and price. Got back today from my first Trek and had such fantastic time on the West Coast. As others say you have to go with an open mind and be willing to experience it fully. Although I am 37 I found the pace good and as for the actual treks could do as much or as little of the walking as you wanted to. The van although quite small was fine for travel as we had frequent stops. As for price you could not do such a tour yourself with such an itinerary much cheaper as car hire is expensive. Also the services of the tour guide are invaluable at times. The food kitty of $10 a day is very reasonable as it covers all 3 meals most days. Your fellow trekkers are likely to be similar minded people, otherwise why would they be there! This is also a great way to travel if you are going solo as it gives you company and a little bit of security of travelling in a group.
I have been to the USA many times and have done it various ways over the past 21 years from self drive to coach tours, in motels and 5 star hotels, but for the sheer experience Trek America is awesome. So if you fancy a holiday with a difference do Trek America0
