Peugeot 206 Central Locking Trouble

I have owned a T-Reg 206 for just over a yr now and I haven't had any probs with it until a few months ago when I realised that everytime I pressed the remote control fob,all the doors locked and the lights flashed once as normal to indicate all doors locked. On a few occassions i was quite astonished to find all my doors unlocked when i got back to the car in the morning and even after doing some half an hr shopping.

A mechanic(who's a family friend bt lives in Wales)once offered to have a look at it but never got the time, although he managed to show me how to lock my boot by flicking a metal wire in the boot car door.Unfortunately,my partner also likes to use my car and he since pushed this wire the wrong way and my boot has been locked, long before xmas!
Anyway, after some time my lights stopped flashing completely. And now the key fob doesn't lock the car at all.If I press the key fob or try locking doors from inside, the buttons depress and then immediately snap up!The only frustrating way I have of locking the car now is by manually depressing the driver's side button when it's trying to flick up(which locks the drivers side) and then hoping accross to passenger side, shutting the door and using the key to lock passenger side.If I accidentally press the fob,I have to go back and do it again!
Now I've realised a few pple complaining of different central locking probs bt all pretty much similar and will all prob cost around £200 to sort out a dealer.
Am thinking maybe manufacturer's fault or am I just going crazy like my central locking system?

  • it could be as simple as a failed microswitch in the door, don't forget that this is a 12 year old car (at least) and nothing mechanical works without a glitch forever.

your best bet is a good auto electrician - as dealerships tend to replace things until the problem goes away.

no microswitch in doors on pugs it will probably be a defective motor in door or the good old pug wiring faults,306 used to suffer something chronic with snapped wires in loom from car to door.

as above speak to a auto electrician and get them to have a look and quote for repairs.
