Old Vodafone Debt

Hi All
Just received a letter from Capquest regarding a very old Vodafone debt that I must admit that I had completely forgotten about.
Its for £499, although from memory It was from when I lived in an address around 8-9 years ago. I've heard nothing from Vodafone since then although I have moved two or three times since.
Is the debt enforceable by Capquest, as Vodafone surely would have written it off?
Advice, before I ring Capquest and try to negotiate any sort of payment???

Yes you can be liable for a debt over 6 years providing the creditor can prove they have been trying to obtain payment from the debtor.
If they have been trying to trace you all this time in order to get payment because you done a runner then they can obtain a CCJ and get it enforced.0 -
Certainly not been doing a runner, moved twice in that time and always been on electoral role wherever I've gone and banked with the same bank for over 13 years now.
If the debt is £499 with Capquest, Can I find out how much the debt was originally from Vodafone?
Or if capquest have paid peanuts for this debt, offering them a silly one time payment of say £100 to clear it?0 -
You moved without providing a creditor with your correct address, as long as they can prove they have made steps in this time to trace you then you can be held liable.
I am not all too clued up on it to be honest, i was told the above by the CAB once so know that applies. wait for someone with more knowledge to come along and i'm sure you will get some good advice.
Good Luck0 -

Hi Mark,
Apologies for us not getting to this thread sooner.
If you're still looking for some help here and would like us to provide with copies of the bills in question here could you email us the details of the airtime account which CapQuest have contacted you about via the Contact us form on our website here?
When sending the email could you state the code WRT135 - FAO Lee in the subject line to ensure that it reaches me?
Kind regards,
Lee
