Orange and Moorcroft Debt Recovery

Hi everyone, I'm looking for some advice on how to deal with some 'debt' that I 'owe' to Orange which is being handled by Moorcroft.
To give an overview of the situation, I received a letter in early January from Moorcroft (without any previous contact from Orange) stating that I owed £107.70 to Orange. This was related to a contract that I believed I had cancelled last September (over the phone), so I phoned Orange first to ascertain what exactly had happened. They said they would look into the matter and would contact me when they had investigated my file to see what notes had been made on it.
I then phoned Moorcroft to explain the situation and they said they would get in contact with Orange. A few weeks later I then received a letter from Moorcroft stating that they had been in contact with Orange and there were no notes on my file to support my claims that the contract had been cancelled. They also said
"I can also confirm that I have placed this account on hold and request that you make immediate contact with our call centre on the above telephone number to discuss a repayment proposal you can afford and maintain.
However, if you are unhappy with the information provided please contact us by return"
Now there were a number of problems with Orange's version of events, so I sent a letter back to Moorcroft stating that I did not agree with the way it had been handled (such as enlisting the use of a debt collection agency without any communication from Orange before) and the version of events according to me.
I didn't, however, send a copy of this letter to Orange and today have received a letter from Moorcroft, which is a 'Possible Litigation' letter with a number of extra charges that may be incurred if I do not phone up and settle the debt immediately.
This letter suggests to me that Moorcroft have completely ignored my letter I sent, which in my view disputes the debt (although doesn't specifically state this) and has obviously left me feeling fairly anxious.
I am a final year student with enough on my plate at the minute, without the threats from debt collection agencies hanging over my head. I would greatly appreciate any advice or suggestions on what steps to take next.
Thanks for reading.

hi if its over the phone do they tape their calls, l know its bit late, but it would been best to back up the phone call with a letter. Saying that what was the debt of which moorcroft got a hold off. I am sorry l not sure on what a contract mobile rules are.. I would assume that if you stop paying a set sum each month, if l am wrong forgive me.. .. They can pass any debt to a collection center, at any time..Would you have a name who you spoke too in cancelling your contract.. also how long the contract length of terms. so many questions. I would write to head office at orange, tell them your version of events, then write to moorcroft saying you are disputing the debt.... best of luck..0
