Proof of purchase to insurance for phone off ebay??

I purchased a new mobile off ebay to put my vodafone contract sim card in. I went into a vodafone store and they transferred my accound and insurance over to the new phone with no questions. I recently cancelled my insurance with vodafone and took it out with my bank. Yesterday I dropped my phone in the bath when washing the dog, so I rang the bank to make a claim, they have said that they will send out claims forms to me, but they also want proof of purchase, the only proof I have is ebay and paypal receipts.
I dont understand why the bank did not ask for proof when I took out the insurance?
Does anyone know if the proof I have is suffecient?
Many thanks
Mark

Insurers don't do this (ask for proof of purchase when you take out a policy)!
Obviously you have to prove to them it's yours.
Your ebay receipt should be fine.0
