Can I rent with a default on my credit file?

you can rent a house when you have defaults on your credit rating. I ran up huge debts when I was 18, I avoided my debt (stupid I know) and now have no idea where any of my debts are. I am 25 and have just got a private let (we move in 23days yay:j )
If you are completely honest when you fill in forms, and if your debts are big then get yourself a guarantor who owns their own home and works, they need to earn enough to cover your rent if you dont pay. If you can do both of those then there will be no reason why you cant rent0 -

I wouldn't waste my time going through a letting agent to be honest, I don't think they'll have a problem trying anybody on the credit checks no matter how likely they are to fail, seeing as they charge hundreds of pounds on checks that only cost them a few quid.0
