What would you Cut in your Council?

I'd get rid of at least 1100 of the staff who are currently working in the local authority in the department that runs the council housing (now separated off to a separate "company"). 1200 people to look after 18000 units of social housing. That's 15 properties each.0

Cut the Dog Wardens, they do nothing anyway. Save Street Cleaners to clean up the dog mess.0

For some unknown reason, my local council appears to subsidise a football club. No idea why?0

Free tickets & hospitality for the council non-jobs?There is a pleasure in the pathless woods, There is a rapture on the lonely shore, There is society, where none intrudes, By the deep sea, and music in its roar: I love not man the less, but Nature more...0 -
There are 66 councillors in our council I would get rid of half of them and their huge expense accounts.
There are too many managers and not enough staff on the front line so for one manager you could employ two workers.
Stop staff working on Bank Holidays that will save thousands of pounds.
As for pensions staff already pay a large contribution and the poorer paid staff will be the ones that suffer the most.
Free trips for 10 councillors or more at a time to visit twin towns abroad, why should the local tax payer fund that.
I would cut anything that deals with minorities - which in itself creates division not integration, no special centres, no separately printed documents in untold numbers of languages, no translator services in the public sector or NHS.
If you live here you should be able to speak read and write English to an acceptable standard and that should be proved before minorities come here.Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

may be an unpopular one but schools? if you look at where council tax goes majority seems to go to schools - think should all be means tested so only the poor get free schools and everyone else pays portion0

I would cut any kind of "twinning" with other towns, it's a complete waste of money & just an excuse for freebie trips abroad.
My town is twinned with 2 others, one in Germany & one in the Czech republic, this is an important learning experience for council staff & members, apparently, so they can compare services & exchange advice - complete tosh!0 -
I would cut these people, they do nothing, I see them wandering around the city centre supping coffee and chatting to each other, they get paid around £30k p.a:The Ambassadors provide a service to visitors, residents, businesses and retailers in the City Centre. They respond to the needs of the public and have a highly visible pro-active presence on the street, creating a safe and welcoming environment.
They wear distinctive uniforms so they are instantly recognisable: red jackets and shirts that display our logo."You've been reading SOS when it's just your clock reading 5:05 "0 -
