Ideas to fight debt counselling fund closing?

How about all those who have managed up to now, but because the government have made changes to their benefits could lose between £92 and £264 a month, which is supposed to cover the cost of support or care. So they now have to either go without the care or lose their Shared Ownership home. These are people least able to cope with debt who may only be in the situation as a direct result of other government decisions.
Providing help for people with a long term Mental Health disability or a Learning disability is far more costly in residential care than allowing them to flourish and live in a property they have a genuine stake in as a shared owner.Truth always poses doubts & questions. Only lies are 100% believable, because they don't need to justify reality. - Carlos Ruiz Zafon, The Labyrinth of the Spirits0 -
Slightly disingenuous, don't you think lemon? I refer you to post 28 in which you refer to your previous work in CABx.
No, perhaps you don't work in them now, but you certainly used to and that hardly makes you an independent commentator.

adj. 1. Not straightforward or candid; insincere or calculating: "an ambitious, disingenuous, philistine, and hypocritical operator, who ... exemplified ... the most disagreeable traits of his time" (David Cannadine).
2. Pretending to be unaware or unsophisticated; faux-naïf.
Pray tell, exactly how I am not straightforward, candid or insincere, or my posts are calculating? It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -
Your quote, lemonjelly:
"Thats not exactly what I am arguing, and within my job in colleges, and previous work in CABx I know financial literacy is a massive part of why consumers are in the mess they are in."
I didn't write this. You did. You can't exactly blame Hamish for assuming you either work in or have worked in CABs based on the above.0 -
I can blame Hamish for the assumptions that he makes now, and has made in the past which have been/are incorrect.
Same for you. Remember when you proposed to me?
ETA I note that you have chosen not to answer the question by the way...It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -
It's disingenuous because you said to Hamish that you didn't work in CABs. He was implying you had a vested interest, and your refutation was a denial of that.
And yet, clearly, you yourself referred in post 28 to your 'previous work in CABx'
So which is it? Could you clarify for us? You did work in them, you do work in them, you used to work in them, or you have or have had very close working relationships with them?
Whichever it is, you're proximity to them brings your independence into question.0 -
LOL - yeah, something told me that you'd actually embrace that rather than see the point I was trying to make

No no no . . .don't hide behind false modesty. We know the point you were trying to make, yet kind of 'camouflaged' it with some liberal doubletalk to please the unthinking hordes here.
You and I both know we're fellow travellers. Be free to break out, young man.0 -
Your arguement is poor bendix. It's disingenuous because you said to Hamish that you didn't work in CABs. He was implying you had a vested interest, and your refutation was a denial of that..
Hamish made an assumption. Hamish, as he is wont, was wrong. Not for the first time...And yet, clearly, you yourself referred in post 28 to your 'previous work in CABx'
So which is it? Could you clarify for us? You did work in them, you do work in them, you used to work in them, or you have or have had very close working relationships with them?.
I feel my posting is clear. However, clearly you have difficulty in comprehending basic information. I worked for a CAB years ago. I no longer work there and have no ties. Which makes the following:Whichever it is, you're proximity to them brings your independence into question.
Preposterous.
Whether I work there or not, I beleive that it is a service that is needed. The house of Lords debate quoted the cost to central government of supporting a debt client in CABx as being £150. The cost to central government for rehousing a homeless person is £15000.
False economy...It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -

What do you reckon? If Bendix had been born in the early Victorian era would he have been one of those Do Gooders as characterised in a recent TV programme and opposed child labour, or would he have supported the Mine or Factory owners and seen the labour of children as merely a means to a healthy profit? (providing he was in a position of influence, of course and not having to go up that chimney).'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. A single market without barriers visible or invisible giving you direct and unhindered access to the purchasing power of over 300 million of the worlds wealthiest and most prosperous people' Margaret Thatcher0 -

Ahhhh . well, thanks for clearing that up.
:-)
It's nice when you clear through the subterfuge to get to the pure essence of a person's position on such subjects, don't you think?0
