hi decorating lounge and i have just painted coving round top of room with
dulux matt emulsion, as it dries it is cracking and coming off in parts, so i gave it a good rub with sandpaper and repainted, the same thing is happening again. I am using the same paint as i used a year ago on it.
It cracked in a few places then but not as bad as now. i think i used cheap emulsion as an undercoat origionally.
Any ideas, im sick looking at it.:(

Hi,
I presume when you say the same paint as you used a year ago you don't literally mean the same tub of paint?
If its a new tub and you have sanded and washed with sugar soap and allowed to dry then then there is no reason why a new coat of paint will not take. Cracking would only be caused by high heat causing quick drying or a reaction to a base coat or film still on the coving0 -
hi, its new tub of same paint, when we moved in we used cheap emulsion as an undercoat and the dulux on top, there was few small areas of cracking but nothing we couldnt ignore, now a year later iv given it a fresh coat and its literaly peeling off Could it be reacting to the cheap emulsion underneath?0
