Tesco Travel

Hi All,

I recently found that Tesco also offer Travel products, Flights, Holidays, Hotels Car Hire etc... But the best thin is you get clubcard points on all purchases.
We just booked our summer holiday on site and got over 5000 clubcard points.... can't wait for the next book of vouchers from Clubcard!
There is a tiny link on their page for Travel at the bottom or google tesco travelstore...

I just went to book a ferry using my Tesco reward vouchers and discovered that the fare without using vouchers was £258, if using vouchers the fare went up to £288! so using my £20 of reward vouchers towards the fare would have actually cost me £10 more than the original fare, Hmm...... Interesting. What a con.

So anybody thinking your getting a good deal using Tesco reward vouchers with Irish Ferries..... Think again:cool:

Tesco travel is run by lastminute.com so there is a reputable travel name behind it. Worth a look if you are thinking of booking with lastminute.com anwyay, as you'll get the Clubcard points!

Oh yes! I have tried to book a barcelo hotel in Barcelona and it was 99Eur per night without vouchers and 129 or 149 per night using the vouchers....not really happy about the surprise...

No you're right it shouldn't be a surprise if you had done your homework.
However, what it does show is that holidays/ferries etc booked through Tesco deals are very poor value for money.
IMO, you are much better off looking around for deals where you can take advantage of any discounts, free child places etc.
In many cases you will pay way offer the odds for your holiday using deals, so it's a false economy to use them for this.

Tell that to the thousands of satisfied holiday customers; again it's just a case of doing your homework so that you can decide if you are getting good value or not.

A fortnight in Bali for 2 cost us less than £500 and we are off to Mauritius in June for a fortnight with the holiday price heavily discounted by the use of Tesco clubcard vouchers. :beer:

So are you saying that your holiday using Tesco deals was the same or less than if you had booked without them? If so, you must be the only person on the planet who has ever managed to book a holiday by paying the same with deals than without;)

No, that's not what I'm saying at all; what I'm saying is that it is down to the individual to do the research and the maths and decide if they are getting good value or not. It's not rocket science.

Well that's pretty obvious.;) I would have thought that whether you are booking a holiday through Tesco or anyone else for that matter, common sense tells you you should do your research.
I'm still wondering though how you claim that booking a holiday using clubcard deals is good value, when all the evidence suggests otherwise.
I have a friend who has booked florida for this September. She has paid considerably more going through Tesco than another operator. She has told me this herself.
i think there are a lot of people deluding themselves in to thinking that they are getting a free or discounted holiday, when in fact they are paying way above base price because they are using deals. That's the point i am trying to make.
I really dont care how people choose to pay for their hols.:cool:I would personally prefer to use real money and shop around for genuine deals:)
