Quick update - got paid on 17th so paid 1 more step. Another £1700 off the mortgage.

Signature updated - going to be a long process

ther other cool thing about doing it this way is you also get good news on the interest bit each month, presumably it is coming down, thus making it a littlke easier to make your OPs (or higher Ops) each and every time you overpay.

Got about £500 towards my next payment - have not bought any lunches again for february which save about £40 per month.

Need to get the energy to get my bike out - will save about £15 per week if I do.

I like your idea! Hate it when "life" and "bills" interfere with paying off mortgage tho, lol. ;) I am busy doing a few renovations at moment (eg, roof leaks hehe) and that is really sucking up the money!

try checking out blackcircles or etyres (through a cashback site) for tyres. May work out cheaper than going to a normal garage.
