New Twist On The Spanish Lottery Scam

The Spanish Lottery Scam has been around for years, but BBC Three Counties Radio have just featured a new twist on this scam. Instead of just receiving a letter or email saying you have won millions of pounds, even though you have never bought a ticket, now the scam is in two parts. The first part actually asks you to buy some tickets for £12 each. Then, a few weeks later, you receive a letter saying you have won £12 million but you have to pay a "processing" fee and various taxes of about £1,600.

A woman rang into the programme saying she had won because she had bought the tickets, but was worried about that fee. Luckily the presenter told her it was a scam and not to pay. The radio station are also trying to get a representative from the so called lottery company to give their side of the story. Don't hold your breath.
