Which way is my garden facing.
Options
I know a lot of people may see this as a silly question but im a little confused. In the morning as I stand back to back with my house the sun is rising from the East which is diagonally to my right. In summer we seem to have the sun all day at the back of the house slowly moving to the top right hand corner by evening, as the sun sets in the West. If I stand back to back with the front of my house the sun sets pretty much in front. Is the garden NE or SE facing or something different altogether.

The sun doesn't rise and set due east and due west. As the seasons change it varies, in the summer it is more northern and in the winter more southern.
Look at your house using Google maps or get a compass......0 -

Can't tell from that picture which way your garden is facing, but to me it look like if it's from right to life of pic it's WNW, if it's from top to bottom of pic it's SSW. (assurimg of course that the pic it taken with north directly up!)Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0

I would say East - very slightly pointing to the south.Spring into Spring 2015 - 0.7/12lb0

Yeah I would say your back garden is pointing SE ish.
Take a few moments and learn to find the polestar, when tonight comes, you'll know which way is North.Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0 -
If you point the little hand of a watch (or clock) at the sun. Half way between that hand and the 12 is south.
Of course you'll have to wait a while for the sun to come out. This is an open forum, anyone can post and I just did !0 -
Seems strange that its a real hot spot in summer. Obviously the way my garden faces will have an impact on what I grow and how sucessfull. Anyone got any idea's which fruit and veg can cope with this, dont want to lose all hope before Ive began.0

The pic is from Google maps (you can see the little orange man).
The back garden looks ESE to me.....0 -
if you stand at your back door looking out onto your garden, where does the sun rise from now?0

On your map, click and drag the little yellow man off his square and put him over your house. Once he is standing on the map, click on him again and this should bring up a photo of your street (at street level). You can then click and drag the picture until you are in front of your house. Then take a look at the direction arrows in the top left corner, where north (N) is marked on the circle. (And have a peek over neighbouring fences to see what everyone else is growing!).If I'm over the hill, where was the top?0
