I steam rice in mine, make soups, stews, spag bol...!
I also cook beans in it (ie. kidney, chick peas etc etc) 500g bags and then seperate and freeze into 5 portions... for use in my cooking... saves a ton of money!
Hope that helps.
Hmm, that does sound interesting, I bet it saves a lot of money in elec. What does the food come out like? Is meat tender?0 -

I am a complete convert and prefer the PC to my SC!
The meat comes out better then the Slow Cooker... it tastes amazing! I find I have to be careful getting the meat out of the PS because it's so tender it falls apart.
If I cook with meat I normally use the PC. My SC rarely get's used nowadays!
Only thing is with a PC you use less liquid as it doesn't evaporate!
I have an electric one (which costs more to buy), but I feel is safer to leave unattended, but most cost £20 (less in the sales) and you use it on the hob (gas or electric). We spend money we don't have, on things that we don't need, to impress people we don't like. I have a ham cooking in the sc right now, its almost done
smells divine. I have made soup with the stock before but I prefer soup in the colder months. Other than freezing it for when I have a soup wanting moment, is there anything else I can do with it? I find nothing but soup recipes on tinternet. Thanks in advance

Ooh lovely, cook some cabbage in it, you'll never go back to cooking cabbage in anything else! This is passed down through my very Irish family and is divine
Perfect with the ham you cooked and some mash with the cabbage and a bit of white sauce and mustard. Yum.0 -
Pease pudding!

Soak some yellow split peas overnight then chuck them in the slow cooker with just enough ham stock to cover them.
Pease pudding is lovely with ham especially with new potatoes & beetroot. If you've got some left over ham bits mix them with the peas pudding for a lovely sandwich filler.Dum Spiro Spero0 -
