My Canon gas cooker is playing up and I was just wondering if it was worth getting repaired or if I would be better off just getting a new one (it's about 10 years old)

my in-laws had an oven for 30yrs with no problem, decided to replace it cos it 'must be on its last legs'. The new one has broken down twice a year since they go it! Dont make 'em like they used to!
Its a shame we live in a society where it is normal to toss something away, I dont blame ya, Id do the same, I just find it kinda depressing the way we throw things away in a world of finite resources. Its not our problem of course, but it will be someone's one day....Debt: a bloomin big mortgage

I suppose its like everything, after a time its not worth paying money to keep things going.
However as far as I am aware, on gas cookers there isn't alot to go wrong really. Maybe getting it serviced (do people still service gas cookers?) will solve the problem, you just have to decide if its worth paying out the money, or if its better vakue to buy a new one.
It is true though, things aren't made to last anymore and I honestly don't think the more expensive white goods are made to last any longer than the cheaper ones.“Pleasure of love lasts but a moment, pain of love lasts a lifetime.”0
