Cars (Buying of)

I have heard that certain days of the month are the best to purchase a car, can anyone inform me what days are best or is this only a myth.

The 16th of the month has always been good to me, whereas the 22nd has been quite lacklustre.

Not strictly a day of the week but I found just before the end of the financial year is good, even better if it co-incides with new registration number time.

Dealers want to clear as much stock as they can to improve their year end figures. I bought my last car near the end of March and got a good deal.

I always buy on the 13th. Hopefully, when timed correctly, you qualify for the Friday discount aswell.

Dealers also spread such rumours themselves in order to boost end of month figure's ;)

Incentive plans for dealers can be based on numbers sold in a set period.

There may be the occasion when it is worth it for the dealer to sell a car cheaply to hit the target.

But there's no sure way of knowing when that might be, or the sales tally of an individual dealer.

A bad deal is a bad deal, and any stories you've heard of cars sold at giveaway prices are probably apocryphal.

Might also be worth seeing what you can get a new old reg for as well, as not many people are going to want one.
What is pi? Where did it come from?

I got my car towards the end of March 2010, i got a letter from my ford dealer (previous customer) asking me to ring to find out my reward, it turned out to be money off a new 10 plate car, i was going to replace my car 6 months later so took advantage of this offer and went along, i got nearly £1000 off, i worked out that they needed to hit sales figures for new cars in march as when i said i'd pick it up on 02 April he said it had to be completed in March, it turned out i could complete and collect on March so i got myself a nice bonus discount.

^^ Personally I think that's all sales banter to secure a deal...... Make the deal sound like an unmissable one, pretend to be desperate to hit those sales figures, tell the customer you'll give them a discount...... I mean think about it, if you were selling anything, the last thing you'd want to do is let the buyer know your desperate to sell.

You could be right, I have heard this before but it could well be a sales ploy
