Parking fine - ticket flipped over

I got a Parking Ticket over the weekend  , I bought a ticket from the machine, there was no sticky back, so I placed it on the Dashboard , the OH then decided that both of our twins needed a nappy change and perfomed the rapid change operation on the drivers seat.
I assume that during this time the ticket flipped over in the wind. - it being a blustry November afternoon by the riverbank
Here is the interesting bit, the instructions on the ticket state "DISPLAY TICKET ON DASHBOARD IN CLEARLY VISIBLE POSITION"
The ticket was on the dashboard, and in a clearly visible position (Just Upside down)
I will of course be appealing my questions for yoi lot are
(i) Should I mention in my appeal letter the fact it was upside down, and the circumstances in which I think this occured or just state I have a valid ticket which was on display?
(ii) Should I send the original ticket with my appeal or a photo copy ?
(iii) Should I mention at this point that I have complied with all instrcutions on the ticket (although perhaps not in the spirit they were meant) ?
Thanks in advance

i had this in weymouth once.
my wife opened her door at the same time as mine and the wind blew straight thru the car. the ticket ended up down the side of the seat.
we range the ticketing office, explained the situation, and they said there wouldnt be a problem, and to send in the ticket with the fine and as long as the times match up it will be cancelled.
now i'm not saying that this will happen for you, but it was my experience.
hope this helps
cheers

Also, have a look at Pepipoo.com for some advice on whether or not the ticket was enforceable.

Just send them a photocopy of the ticket, shouldn't be much of a problem. Legally, I don't think they have a very strong if any case against you.0

UPDATE: They allowed the appeal, but wrote me a very snotty letter, saying the ticket should be displayed the right way up, and should I be caught with the ticket the wrong way round again I will be fined !!0

Send a snooty letter back telling them that the letter you recieved was written upside down :rotfl:٩(̾●̮̮̃̾•̃̾)۶ __̴ı̴̴̡̡̡ ̡͌l̡̡̡ ̡͌l̡*̡̡ ̴̡ı̴̴̡ ̡̡͡|̲̲̲͡͡͡ ̲▫̲͡ ̲̲̲͡͡π̲̲͡͡ ̲̲͡▫̲̲͡͡ ̲|̡̡̡ ̡ ̴̡ı̴̡̡ ̡͌l̡̡̡̡0 -
Why do people get upset about these things? There were simple instructions .. due to an accident the ticket got flicked over (I am sure they have heard this excuse many times) ... letter sent ... situation resolved .. end of story.
IvanI don't care about your first world problems; I have enough of my own!0
