Did you also check/modify the registry as detailed in the More Information section of article Q273017?
See also http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q290668
Do you let Scandisk finish? Once it has finished, try doing a disc surface test with Scandisk.
Have you had any other problems/error messages with the computer? The scandisk problem could indicate a failing hard drive.
Some more suggestions in this thread --> http://groups.google.co.uk/group/microsoft.public.windowsme.general/browse_frm/thread/fee8d42144839a2f/0 -
No I haven't done the registry.
The scan disk won't finish and when I closed down last time it's now running in thorough mode but again won't finish.~Laugh and the world laughs with you, weep and you weep alone.~:)

I changed the registry per the link for cachedelay shut down and rebooted. Went into Scandisk and thorough mode. This time it ran, it just took 1 hour:cool: . Anyway loaded fine then no errors found. Shut machine down, very quick shutting down and then restarted. No scan disk:T
Thanks for your help.~Laugh and the world laughs with you, weep and you weep alone.~:)
