Hi all
A friend of mine works for a school in a support role.
The school is about to become an academy and the job he is going to be slotted into, is much the same as his old one. The big difference is though the new position pays 21% less.
Can they do this to him?

In short, No.
He shouldn't be 'slotted' into another role, are you sure he hasn't been made redundant and offered another role?
Has he spoken with his union?Louise0 -
He has only found out today that he will be slotted into a very similar job but the pay is much less.
Definately hasn't been made redundant.
He is in the GMB and hasn't had the chance to speak to them yet.0 -
It now looks like he will be offered redundancy if he doesn't take the downgraded post. Can this be done?
The GMB union reps are very slowwwwwwww0 -
suggest he changes to another unionAll of my views are my own0
