Posting to Argentina

Hi,

I recently sold a pair of baby's trousers on eBay to a buyer from Argentina, which is fine as I often post overseas.

However, this buyer has put a note on his Paypal saying 'please put in the package is "family donation" not to purchase value' which I assume means 'tick the 'gift' box on the customs form. Is this allowed? Surely it would be breaking some customs law or something and in theory I could get in trouble?

It only sold for 99p + P&P so I'm a bit confused, surely it won't be subject to customs charges on his end?

Can anyone shed any light on why the buyer wants me to do this and advise what I should do?

I think Argentina is one of a few countries that charges duties on all imports regardless of the value. Although the duty will be small on this item it may be that the Royal Mail equivalent will charge a high admin fee for collecting the customs charge. The buyer should have asked beforehand whether you would mark the item as a gift as some sellers will and some won't.
