No-one seems to have mentioned Lloyds vantage : with £5k, you could open a vantage current account will give 4% interest. Also, could open a Halifax reward current account, and each month move £1k from Lloyds to Halifax and back again. That will satisfy the funding requirements of both accounts, and Halifax will give you £5 per month (net) in addition to the interest you'll get from Lloyds.
Even if you're slightly under £5k, Lloyds will give you 3% which is still competitive.0
