help with past credit companies

I have a bit of a dilemma, in that i cannot find the company i used to have a secured loan with, it was nearly 9 years ago, and i no longer have any details, or the company name!!
Is it possible to find out this information? as i fancy trying claiming back PPI.

If you were mis sold the PPI then you can make a reclaim.


Not sure if they will still hold the details, but maybe a credit report for £2 may help, if the account was still active the last 6 years they may hold some of the details.

So I assume you require the name of the broking company who arranged your loan for you.
If you know who the lender was (if you went direct with the lender to have the loan) they will be able to provide you with the broker details.

But otherwise you can try checking on a credit report.

You can do this by requesting for your report through various credit companies, such as Experian, Equifax and so on.

That's the problem i can't remember who the company was, i may have gone to a loan company to get it set up, but can't remember that either:(

What about any old bank statements?

If you bank with the same bank now where you made the loan payments from this bank account, you could check old statements, so if you bank online this may allow you to go back some years, you may at least get something to give you an idea.

Or back to the first suggested - Credit report.;)

May I ask if it was just one loan you had? if so then maybe the one is the broker who set up your loan and the other the lender who you paid this back to, buy what you could do if you have reasons for being mis sold, is pursue the both by completing the reclaiming questionnaire (or you could write in your own words to reclaim the ppi if you want to, but please be aware the questionnaire replaced the template letter on this site).

Send to both anyway, keep copies of everything and see what happens by 8 weeks, which is the normal timescale of dealing with complaints.
