My wifes car has broken down and needs a new engine. I have found one on E-bay in Doncaster but it is local collection only. Can anyone advise me as to how i can get it shipped as inexpensively as possible via a courier? Will arcelforce take it?

Have never had to do before so not entirely sure where to start :(

thanks in advance for any advice/pointers

May need to be on e-bay board please move if required?
Politicians and diapers have one thing in common. They should both be changed regularly, and for the same reason.

Read some of the recent posts where people have bought 2nd hand engines and they did not work or not as advertised.

It could be cheaper to goto a main dealer and get them to fit a new factory engine, Bit extreme but you do need to buy
    with care. Fitting it yourself?

Pay for delivery, then pay fitting then pay for someone to remove it and post it back could get very expensive. and leave
you in the same position as you started out but with empty pockets.

Look seriously into getting your current engine rebuilt.

You will be looking at palleted delivery, Palletline etc?

Only buy an engine from a source you can trust. Even if it is from a scrappie, check them out, make sure you have full contact details etc. I'd be worried that your saving a few quid in buying this engine and the seller isn't competent enough to stick it on a pallet for you. Unless its super rare, I bet you can find one more locally (easier to get redress) for not too much more.

An 'aquaintance' bought a 2007 Audi TT RS off eBay recently. Sold by a 'reputable' eBay firm with good feedback, but the thing was a VERY rotton lemon! It had been rolled and repaired very badly. Panels were 1-2" out of alignment, dents very poorly repaired, and where the seat airbag had gone off they had just sown it up!! £13k for the car, but (foolishly) he has spent a further £5k getting it nearer to what the car should have been.

Be VERY wary of eBay for 'sold as seen' items, as you could end up paying more than a new/rebuit unit trying to save a few quid. I'd cancel the purchase now.
