Phoning Hong Kong to UK....

Hi all,
Partner going to HK next week for a week.
Looking for the cheapest way for her to phone the UK. It would mainly be landlines but would be a need to phone mobiles.
She has an iphone (Orange) and there is no way for her to get it unlocked before the weekend, so a Glbal SIM or something similar is not really in the equation.
Any help greatly and quite quiclky apprecaited:)

Skype or other VoIP solution.
Alternatively buy a cheap payg phone in HK. Research which network provides cheapest options for calling the UK.0 -
Go to a 7-11 shop (bit like Spar) and ask for a HK$50 PCCW phone card. She can then call a local rate number (details will be on the back of the card) and when prompted, enter the UK/mobile number. If I remember correctly, that will give her about 300 minutes of calling time.0

Yup, and I agree that's also a good option to consider.0 -

Yes, she can use a payphone. Local calls in HK are free, so there would be no additional charge for this

Yes
I go to HK quite frequently and use these cards to call "home".
Tell her to use a payphone or the phone in her hotel, if she uses her UK based mobile, the mobile company would charge for roaming and would class the local HK call divert bit as an international call.
Local calls in HK are free, so if she uses a payphone, the only cost is the $50. Some hotels charge $5 or $6 for a local call if you use the phone in the room but still cheaper than using a UK mobile.0 -
Great many thanks!!0
