CompareTheMarket - Argh...

Hi all. I got some quotes to renew my van insurance through CTM on Jan 26th. I've gone to buy the lowest quoted insurance and the price has jumped up from £190 to £207!! If I call the insurer to talk about it do you think they'll honour the cheaper quote?

I'm already fuming about the leap in insurance costs this year. Last year my regular insurer chrged me just £167 for a year's insurance. This year they wanted £267 for the same cover!! And I thought insurance was supposed to go down year on year if you never had an accident...

Any hints/tips/advice on getting my quote as low as possible qould be gratefull received. I've tried the cashback thing on here but can't find the relevant insurer...

TIA

    Who told you that?:rotfl:

Your gross premium is likely to go up every year. The amount you pay may go down if you are building up NCD.

Insurance has gone up considerably in the past year.

PS If you are thinking of insuring with More Than - don't.

    Are vans cheap to insure?

I'm surprised you can insure anything with an engine for £200.

My advice would be to snatch their hand off for £207.

My '59 plate Mazda2 costs that.

I had a similar thing with house insurance a couple of years ago - the quote went up by around £100 when I opened it to renew - even though the price was valid for 30 days. I phoned the insurance company up who were able to see the original quote - once all the details had been confirmed as correct they honoured the original price. You certainly lose nothing by phoning them up and asking.

    Why is this?

I have been insured with them since July of last year, as the cheapest option through various comparison sites.

Should I be looking at cancelling my policy and moving to a new, more expensive insurer?

A qualification of your "PS" would be helpful.
