Phones 4U - 3rd Faulty Mobile in 3 Weeks

Hi
I would appreciate any advice with regards to a new handset I have bought from Phones 4U.
I signed a 24 month contract on the 17th January 2011 for a HTC Desire. Started noticing the ear piece was fuzzy/crackling when making calls. Returned to the store and was advised they only exchange on a like for like basis.
I took another HTC Handset and yet again experienced the same problem. Was advised to call Tech Support who told me they had received complaints about this. Was told to re-set my phone, this didnt fix the problem.
Called their Head Office who gave me a reference to take in store and swap for another make of mobile (provided it was on the stores list) I wanted a Samsung but of coursed this wasnt on their list and out of the 4 handsets they offered me, I didn't want any.
Once again called their Head Office to complain and was told it may be a faulty batch and just to keep exchanging for the same phone until I got one that worked!
I am now on my 3rd HTC mobile and yet again the same problem persists. I cannot cancel my contract or even change my tariff for another phone. I am so frustrated!
Thanks

You haven't asked a question?0

Well, to be fair, the phone itself doesn't make up part of your contract, so you have little chance of cancelling the contract or changing it over to another tariff (unless you wanted to pay more, obviously). However, the phone should be fully functioning and of satisfactory quality. So your options are to a) get the same phone again or b) take one of the alternative phones they have offered.
It does seem very odd that you have had 3 faulty Desires in a row though, especially when it is the same fault. Did the same problem occur when upgraded to Froyo?0 -
I offered to pay an extra £5 per month in order for me to get the Samsung Galaxy S but was advised I couldn't.
Don't see why I should have to pick another handset I don't want or like since the fault isn't my problem. Fed up wasting my time in the shop and on the phone and think it's ridiculous to be on my 3rd handset in less than 4 weeks.
Not sure what you mean about being upgraded to Froyo.0 -

Upgrading the version of Android from 2.1 to 2.2. It makes some improvements to the phone and you never know, could fix the problem you are experiencing. I'd certainly try doing this first, before rejecting the phone again. The Desire is a cracking phone (when it's not faulty obviously) so I wouldn't give up just yet
