Hi,
My friend has ME and had to renew her DLA. She filled in the forms and had a medical in her home. she has now been turned down. She is going to appeal but is uncertain what benefits if any she might be entitled to in the meantime as DLA was her only benefit and she still has bills to pay.
would she be looking at ESA or JSA or is there some other procedure?
Thanks for any info
Jo

Hi jo70mo, I'm sorry she has had her DLA turned down. What I don't understand is how she only had DLA as income. How wasn't she on either income support or Incapacity benefit or ESA?
What is her situation - is she single, partner, married??0 -
Why was she only claiming DLA? Is she fit for work?

Hi sorry,
I am only getting panic stricken email from her at the moment.
The benefits side of things is not something we have discussed much as friends.
I think I maybe got the wrong end of the stick about only getting dla. her email says she has not been awarded any benefits and as that is the only money she gets how will she pay the bills?
She is single. It may be that she did get other benefits along side it. it is not clear from her email.
I seem to have come on here with too little info hoping that I can write back with something useful. actually I guess I need to find more out from her first.
Thanks Guys“Don’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.”

If she is not sure which benefits she receives, if she can tell us the amounts that appear on her bank statements we should be able to work backwards and work it out.Gone ... or have I?0

If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0

It won't really tell her a lot if she doesn't know what she is already receiving.Gone ... or have I?0 -
Thanks.
I have suggested she gets in touch with CAB about her appeal and to see what she may be entitled to. and also that she could either come on here and ask you lot for ideas or give me more detail and I'll bring it on here for her.
Now the ball is in her court I guess.
Thanks again
