Funny you should post this, I ordered something from Amazon which was apparently delivered by them today. I was going to be out, so I left a note on the door asking them to either leave with a neighbour or in a safe place. When I got home the note had gone but there was no card left, so I have no idea where the item is! The obvious person would be our next door neighbour but they've been out all day too, so I now have to knock on people's doors asking if they've taken in a parcel for me! They are worse than useless, I don't know why Amazon still use them.

I rang them up and the person I spoke to said I must have signed for it as it wouldn't have said 'delivered' in the tracking info. Yep, I'm that clever that I can sign for something at my front door when I'm 15 minutes away in town. Grrrr I would never use them if I had a choice.

its better to actually say which neighbour
how many doors do you think a delivery driver has time to knock?
tell them which neighbour then you know where it will be

Nice idea- but unfortunately not true! I work shifts so bin goes out at various times. We also have bin men who will pick ours up from by the house if we don't leave them on the kerb......which is great when you are on holiday as otherwise the bin would block the path for days on end.

The annoying thing is that there are plenty of other places they could leave things that are far safer than a grotty bin.

My home delivery guy is great, I have a purple recycle bin which i dont use and he will put my stuff in there, if its the other relief guy he climbs (yes climbs) the side gate and leaves parcel either in the blue recycle bin which is behind the locked gate or round the back of the house at the patio doors, then he leaves a note to say where he left it!! I was a bit shocked at how far he goes to make sure you get your parcel safely on the day, and im sure someone would be outraged at this, but i personally think hes great for it!

One of our deliverers ( Not sure which company) leave things in our greenhous and post the note through which I'm more than happy with- saves redelivery but it's out of sight and dry there. Some parcels just get left by our front door which I don't like as we live on a fairly busy road so anyone walking past could take it. My Postman is the BEST! He probably shouldn't do some of the things he does - but it saves me a lot of time and hassle. Total legend- and I make sure he knows it!
  • Home Delivery Network have a habit of leaving stuff under my doormat. In someways it's quite good when it's just a DVD and saves me a trip to the depot, but I'm not sure what the rules are about what they can and can't leave without a signature.
