Home Delivery network question.

Options
Ordered an item on super saver delivery from Amazon and it is being delivered by the Home Delivery network...

What happens if I'm not in, are they likely to leave it somewhere safe or take it back to the depot? AFAIK it won't require a signature...

In my experience it depends on the driver, the last parcel they delivered to us was taken back to the depot after I was out the first time they tryed to deliver. The second time they tryed to deliver it I was out again and they left it round the side of the house.

It will depend on if neighbours are in, if it is a safe neighbourhood, if you have a safe place for it to be left. Most of the time it will be left with a neighbour or safe place. As long as it is not high value.

I wonder if it would be worth putting a note on the door....

Yes it would, put on the bottom to remove note after they have read it.

Funny you should post this, I ordered something from Amazon which was apparently delivered by them today. I was going to be out, so I left a note on the door asking them to either leave with a neighbour or in a safe place. When I got home the note had gone but there was no card left, so I have no idea where the item is! The obvious person would be our next door neighbour but they've been out all day too, so I now have to knock on people's doors asking if they've taken in a parcel for me! They are worse than useless, I don't know why Amazon still use them.

I rang them up and the person I spoke to said I must have signed for it as it wouldn't have said 'delivered' in the tracking info. Yep, I'm that clever that I can sign for something at my front door when I'm 15 minutes away in town. Grrrr I would never use them if I had a choice.

They've always left it with a neighbour whenever we've had something delivered by them.

...for any burglar walking by to read....

Each driver is a law unto themselves...our local one had a go at me at 8pm as I refused to take a parcel. Yes it had my name on it, but the address was 3 miles away at the storage facility I use and the boxes were very large...hence delivery to the storage facility. He moaned that I wouldn't take it and I obviously didn't understand that he'd have to go back tomorrow and attempt redelivery.

Parcels can get left behind our bin or we get carded.

In my block of flats with a shared entrance they ring then go away, come back the next day and do the same. On the odd occasion they do actually shove a card under the main door which eventually - after being trodden on by most of the occupants of the block - I notice and ring them. By this time I have a choice of taking a day off work or doing a 50 mile round trip to my "local" depot to get the package

For some reason I buy less through Amazon these days.
