Can an error payment into credit card be reversed?

If an internet payment was done by mistake to the BarclaysCard instead of the rent, can it be reversed?

If yes, who will do that Barclays or BarclaysCard? One is saying payment has left the account and there is nothing they can do, call the other. The other is saying the payment has not arrived yet so they can do nothing either.

And all that for two days [gotta call them tomorrow again] and landlord gets crossed.

  • it takes a few days for the money to make it way through the clearing system. If your bank won't do a chargeback, which they probably won't, then the credit card company would have to refund the cash, but I am unsure if they are obligated to do this if the balance is greater than the amount sent. Can you pay your landlord by credit card?
There's no sense crying over every mistake.
You just keep on trying till you run out of cake.
  • If your behaviour with Barclaycard is good then there is no reason for them to keep anything other than the minimum payment requirement.
Give it a couple of days for everything to through then ask Barclaycard again for a part refund.

May be you can withdraw from the ATM (but you will pay cash withdrawal fee) - once this happened to me and Citibank suggested it instead of a refund.

Yeah you don't want to be taking it out of the cashpoint!! Hefty fee, potentially a lot of interest, and a cash withdrawal marker on your credit file that may put other lenders off you.

This happened to me about a year ago and I ended up using my Barclaycard to PayPal a friend the money who then withdrew it and transferred it back to my current account.
