When do you expect a seller to post your item after you have paid for it

I was biding on 2 items last monday from 2 different sellers which was due to end while i was in work, so i got home from work and checked to see if i had won any and i had won the 2 items
so i paid for the both items about 10.30pm. Now i was hoping to have the items by saturday but they didn't come until today, so i checked when they was posted and the one was showing the 3rd feb and the other the 4th. So my question is when would you expect a seller to post a item it they don't put in their listings that they don't go to the post office everyday.

Unless they state 'next day delivery' etc I personally give them 7 days (as a maximum before I ask them where my item is lol). You do have the chance to ask sellers when they post etc but if you haven't I'd say the average is 3-4 days."If you're good at something, never do it for free..."0

I would usually get things in the post within 3 days but most of the time its next day.
The problem is many sellers give an excellent service so it becomes epected that all sellers run to the post office the second a item is paid for.Have my first business premises (+4th business) 01/11/2017

To compete with other sellers, it really should be sent within a couple of days, but dispatch is not delivery - Royal Mail is the one which can prolong some estimates.
Personally I wouldn't keep anyone waiting, they've paid me, so I should fulfil my part of that bargain fairly soon. There's nothing to be gained from stalling on it except unhappy buyers."Well, it's election year, Bill, we'd rather people didn't exercise common sense..." - Jed Bartlet, The West Wing, season 4

as a seller i aim for next day whenever possible, but if buying i think within 2-3 days is acceptable. however date of posting is irrelevant when the royal mail can take forever despite the seller's very best intentions.0

When I sell items, I tend to post the item out within two days of receiving payment. By default, I post my items second class unless the buyer has requested otherwise. Therefore I expect the buyers to receive their items within seven days of payment.0

Hi there, same here. Second class some times gets there before first class, I don't know why but it does. I have known second class to get to the customer next day after posting. Buyers also need to understand that once an item is posted, at the post office or collection box, it is out of the sellers hands and in the care of Royal Mail and it is upto them to do their part.Lifes a !!!!! and then you marry one:D0 -
each seller has different dispatch times, it should be what they have stated on their listing (it's compulsory to give dispatch times).
If someone says 2 days and post after 5 than it's bad service, and will be reflected in fb/stars. If someone says 5 days and post after 5 days, than I'll have to live with it because I should have checked.
It happened that something took ages to arrive, but we can't just assume everyone does, or should, post within 24hrs, it's up to the buyer check the dispatch time suits them.
I post every day, so I'm speaking as a buyer here, although I do it's not fair to expect that everybody does, particularly occasional or part time sellers who have other commitments.
So saying everybody should post within x days it's not a valid argument.0 -
I don't use 2nd class any more, last year I sold a batch of items (about 30) and they all went the day after payment 2nd classes and I ended up with 2 1-2 DSR's on dispatch time.
Yes its down to stupid buyers but the extra few pence for 1st seems to keep said stupid buyers happier.Have my first business premises (+4th business) 01/11/2017

If someone pays me for something, it becomes a commitment that I prioritise. I'm not awfully sticky on dispatch time, but it's nice to know that if I send someone money for something, it becomes their commitment, nay, perhaps a priority to them, instead of just going into their Paypal account and saying "hey, I'll get round to that some time this week." As a private seller, I take exception to the idea that we should be held to lower standards, because we aren't and I like to treat people who send me money with priority service."Well, it's election year, Bill, we'd rather people didn't exercise common sense..." - Jed Bartlet, The West Wing, season 4

I expect them to dispatch within the timescale they said they would dispatch in their listing. They deem him their worst enemy who tells them the truth. -- Plato0
