I've put this on the Music msef, but thought I would try this one as well. My dear Mum suffers from dementia and finds technology difficult. She loves music and I'm trying to find a really simple mp3 player for her, that I can download all her favs on to. It needs to be really simple, just an on/off switch and volume control - anything more and she will forget how to use it! Any ideas welcome!:D

A CD player might be a better option to be honest. The issue with most mp3 players is they typically need a computer to add music to them, unless you are intending to manage this for her. If you are going to manage it all I would probably suggest an iPod shuffle as they are very simply laid out with no confusing menus for her. There's no sense crying over every mistake.
You just keep on trying till you run out of cake.0 -
ipod shuffle.
About as simple as you can get.0 -
There is something on a r gos for under 12 I got it from my son - its on off button at the top and then a simple square to go forward and backwards with songs - and I bought seperate headphones from same place that had a volume control on them... its usb plug and play for adding songs - simples.0

Probably best with one of the ones that just looks like a pen drive and runs off a AAA battery (rather than messing around with chargers and the like). If she's anything like my mad old mum, she'll end up hitting someone with it, anyway!

Thanks Blobby8 but thats too many controls for her - when I say simple I mean simple, dementia sufferers can find more than 2 instructions difficult to cope with some days! Thanks LMCD for the pm, I'm going to pop into Argos and see if I can have a look at it before purchasing - depends on how big the middle on/off button is!
Thanks everyone

Is the ALBA I think, still has 5 controls though0 -
Yes that's the one that LMCD suggested - it just depends on the size of the buttons - if the one in the middle is big enough it might do if I put an on/off sticker on it! Fingers crossed. It's a shame that some bright spark couldn't come up with a really simple one about the size of a large box of matches, with just an on/off and a volume slider, I'm sure my Mum's not the only dementia sufferer who loves music!!
