Does anyone have any advice about renting with an IVA?

I entered into an IVA about 18 months ago and am now looking to rent a property with my partner who has an excellent credit rating.
Does anyone have any experience or advice on this? I have read so many different things from my boyfriend registering with the lettings agency as the tenant and myself as an occupant... to letting agencies only doing a basic credit check so an IVA wouldn't show...?
I really want to go about this in the right way.
The rent covered by the budget outlined in my annual review would cover the bills in a rented property.
