Hi Primo,
Just wanted to add that you are correct - most people dont complain myself included. However, 2 weeks ago my bank made a mess of my mortgage dd, I didnt actually complain but did raise a concern with the bank. And I got a cheque for £50 a few days later apologising and saying that they had rectified the problem. Obvioulsy this was a nice surprise, and it did actually cost me money due to their mistake.
Thanks0 -

Hi Lea
I have just seen your story after finding out about it via the newsletter as well. There is a section at the bottom called "Quick Forum Tips" and your story is listed as "Debt Free Wannabe of the Week"! Congrats - you are famous!!
When I spilt with my ex I ended up in a ton of debt and it took me several years to get to the stage where i could actually open the post when it arrived without wondering who was going to be threatening me with court action now. It was a long slog and, once i had paid off the debt I had to work on rebuilding my credit which took even longer.
I was jealous of people who got offered normal credit cards in the post - all I got was sub-prime credit offers. Now I get loads of junk mail for "normal" stuff and it still makes me smile!!
It sound like you have control of the situation and I really hope that 2011 is a better year for you.
Take care and keep posting!

Thanks everyone. Having a really great day. Did 2 hours of gym this morning and XH has paid maintenance even though it was 2 days late.
Anyway have now paid some bills. It is great to mark it as paid on my monthly spreadsheet. So far this month all debts to people I owe have been paid. Paid all credit cards and credit stuff e.g. next etc. Also bought my sons the gifts I owed them from xmas. Had to tell a little porky on this one, so am so glad that they will be now receiving them. Also, have bought sons birthday present that I own him for Jan.
Also paid my outstanding debt with the milkman and have put some money on my electricity key.
Regarding my CC saga, just phoned them again and the story from monday has changed again. Very frustrating as I have been told that I have now paid one month in advance. On monday they were terminating my account for not paying. AHHH!! Will still be sending a letter of complaint as I would really like to get this straight.
Have a delivery from JSB tonite using the £10 voucher. Hopefully these groceries will last until next wed when my sons going to their dad for a few days. Groceries should be minimal then for a few days.
Had my little kitten neutered on MOnday, and very kindly received a donation from Cats Protection - thanks - for this operation. He is doing great.
So thats all for today.0 -
Hi all, hope you are all having a great weekend. The sun being out certainly helps make things look brighter.
Sorry, this may be a long post and you dont have to respond. I just find it so helpful putting on paper my thoughts etc, it seems to help to just put it out there.
Anyway thought I was doing really well this month. Had a couple of extra cash surprises which was nice, but also had alot of extra bills. I really thought I would be ok and that the two would balance out, however I now realise that I am £300 short this month. I am still trying to get the hang of this budgetting thing and dont seem to be doing too well.
Anyway the scenario is as follows. All my d/os came off yesterday even though they are for the 28th monday. Been advised by the bank that d/o that come off on a monday actually go out of the account of a sat. I phoned the bank yesterday as I was now over my agreed overdraft limit. They very kindly offered me a encashment as I had to get to guildford and needed petrol money.
To make up the difference my options are:
1. I have a PDA agreement in place for £600 of which I have only used £100. I meant to go on friday but was not having a good day and spent the day in bed. I suffer from some depression and have some bad days. My sons are at their dads which doesnt help and I have no reason to get up - this is really my own fault and I should have just pulled up my socks and sorted it out and then I wouldnt have had a stressful weekend. So tomorrow morning first I will go to the pawnbroker and cash 3 x £100 cheques which will be banked in 30 days and this should cover my shortfall for this month. Of course, I am always pessimistic that something will go wrong and that I wont be able to. AHHH!!
2. My other option is to recall my d/o for my mortgage. Which although has gone off on sat can be recalled on monday. really not keen on this one as I think it is really important to pay your mortgage every month. I have never been late!!
So am now holding thumbs that the cheque cashing will work tomorrow. Not ideal I know and totally not DFW, but rather do that than have bounced cheques and d/os. This month will be better so can make sure I have the £300 available in 30 days time.
Feeling really annoyed with myself at the moment. I just dont seem to be getting it right even though I am watching every penny and keep a very tight budget spreadsheet.
Anyway moan over. I know that other people are in a far worse situation than I so really have no right to moan!!0 -
Hi again Lea74,
Sorry to hear that you are having a bit of a rubbish time at the moment.
Stick with it. That's all the advice I can give.
I have rubbish days which sometimes turn into weeks and I sometimes think that I have just about cracked something when it all goes belly up and I am back to square one.
But I know that if I start lapsing a bit and not give this debt-free malarky my full 100% it won't get done. Only I can do it, nobody else.
So keep on writing your diary updates even if it is just to clear your head and to remind you that the good days follow the not-so-good days.
I tend to chunter on and on whilst updating my diary and the posts are soooo long but I feel good when I read back at all the things that upset me or issues which weren't going to plan.
Think of yourself and if you need time to lay in bed and sort yourself out that's what you have to do.
Take care
