  • Sorry, I read this as:

    USB Walking Shoes

and was just intrigued how they would work!
  • The "old" pre 2004 Karrimor were some of the best camping/walking products in the world. I know this because I travelled 4 continents, including 3 mountains and a dessert in them, over 12 months, gave them huge amounts of abuse EVERY DAY , and they lasted till the end. Not many products can do that. I'm still gutted they went under, and this SportsWorld !!!!!! is an insult.

Is it me, or does that not make any sense at all?

I agree with that...and's the reason why I bought a backpack from Sports World (I didn't realise the brand had changed!)
The backpack ripped at the top within 6 months through normal use...I've gone back to using my 6 year old Karrimor backpack...still going strong!
  • these are rubbish boots, they've been this price since last Nov,05, the laces break on the metal hooks and the material rips at the front where you bend your foot.nice compass and whistle as freebie with them tho.

This is all very interesting to hear. I've previously been quite tempted to buy a pair but now i'm aware that Karrimor has become such an inferior product i'll probably avoid them.

Shouldn't be too much of a surpise though. Sports World is an abomination of a store. The worst service and returns and just down right dirty and downmarket. It keeps the chavs happy though.

mine have been ok for general use, but I wouldn't take them on a proper walk! The backpacks '80% off' made good pressies and were no worse than others I've bought for £10-15, again I wouldn't use them for anything too serious. Bought some clothing at Sportsworld too and the standard isn't that good, but as they're scrunched up in the boot of the car for emergencies, I have no problem with them not lasting.

Totally! I have just found out through this thread that they had been taken over (v slow to find out!) and it is such a shame. I bought my karrimoor KSB boots about 1.5-2 years ago from Blacks and they were £100 but worth every penny. Now I know not to buy them in the future as I am very likely to be disappointed from what is said here. Saying that though I am sure my current boots will last for many years to come!

Pity to hear that "Michael Barrimore" are no more.

I've got a pair of KSB and they're a bit too "old wool sock" for my tastes. I prefer the lighter trainer style walking shoes and I use them for mountaineering. Running shoes work well too.
    Happy chappy

I totally agree with you.. I hadn't even heard of the place until a few weeks ago and bought on-line.. heard nothing for a week and after chasing them up by e.mail they just said "we don't have the goods, cancel the order if you want" kind of thing! absolute rubbish customer services, no manners whatsoever.
