Car keys stolen... will insurance pay out for replacement and new locks?

Hi there, bit of a problem...
My spare key fob for my car was inside the glove box - not the best place to put it but totally forgot it was there... I used my spare key several weeks ago as I couldn't find my original...later that day I found my original and had two keys on me so just threw the spare in the glove box and forgot all about it.
Until now.
My car got broken into and the thief must have thought it was Christmas... he found the key in the glove box and stole the car. LUCKILY, my car was found the next day with no damage (apart from the smashed window). My iPhone was stolen from inside the car, it was also in the glovebox.
My problem is this: I want to claim on my home insurance for my iPhone being stolen (I'm definitely covered) which is fine.... but can I also claim for my key fob and the expense of having to change all my locks? The thief has the key fob and I have to park up at the same place every week so he could come back and get access.
Will the insurance company pay for a new key and for locks to be changed?

Seeing as you left the fob in the car i am doubtful that the insurance company will pay out for new keys...

Hmmm even though they weren't on display? Insured with RSA. Got home and car insurance with them.0 -

Yes, I would think so, but why don't you read your policy? If you've lost the paperwork you can probably download it from their website.0 -

I have contents cover outside the home, up to a limit of £1,500 for thefts from an unattended motor vehicle.
That covers my phone... just wondering if it would cover my key fob and the cost of changing the locks.0 -
That covers my phone
Are you sure?
Sometimes they specify a locked glove compartment.
Have you looksed at all the exclusions?
You might have to look at more than one place in the policy e.g. the "what's covered" and then the "what's not covered" section.0 -
I've just checked "MORE THAN"s policy on-line and here's the exclusionthe items stolen were out of sight in a locked
luggage boot, luggage or glove compartment
I think you will find your ipod is not covered as it wasn't in a LOCKED comparment.
Of course I could have the wrong policy, but when I googled for RSA that's what came up and I have a feeling that is fairly standard to be honest.
Obviously you need to check your policy in case it's changed, but that is what I expect you will find.0 -

Ok cheers, read that too, it was locked so that's fine, should have a case. The plastic is snapped so can provide photographic evidence to RSA if necessary.0 -
Well that' good news.
Have a look at page 23 here

Probably not, home insurance normally doesn't cover motor related items.0 -
What car is it? Does it have an immobilser chip in the key?
If it does changing the locks would be half a job. They have the fob so the car will start with a screwdriver.
Unless you get the immobiliser system reprogrammed also.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
