Abit of PPI help please

Am helping my partner with her possible PPI reclaiming and am abit unsure about a few things thus far.
We've written to both the bank loan and credit card people with the template found on here.
The loan side of things replied pretty much immediately, giving us what we wanted. So first question:
On the agreement there is 2 boxes, 1 asking "YES, I want to take advantage of bla bla bla (PPI) should I fall ill etc etc" and a "NO" box. The missus has signed "Yes" but I am told that she wasn't told 'exactly' what it was and that given her employment she wouldn't need it.
- So, can and should we progress with a claim?
And then onto the credit card, who replied with "In order to action this request, can you please provide me with the following: The Date subject access request payment of £10"
- I can understand that this is perfectly above board and probably quite normal, however how come they want the cash, and the loan people didn't... As BOTH things are with the Halifax??
More sensitive and more specific data perhaps? All we asked for is the copy of agreement specifically any insurance/charges etc
Cheers in advance

Hi and welcome
It seems the letter send was for the data of the accounts maybe, another name for this is Subject Access Request (SAR) or so, with this you request for the details on your account and enclose £10 cheque or postal order, where they have 40 days to comply.
I think maybe there have been a confusion on this, instead of the reclaiming letter/questionnaire, a letter of requesting for data have been requested for which is why they are asking for the appropriate amount for this.
The reclaiming template letter on this site is now replaced by a reclaiming questionnaire, you will find this here as stage one of reclaiming.
http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/ppi-loan-insurance#reclaim
So as long as you don't require any paperwork (you don't really have to to make a reclaim really), then I would complete the above questionnaire, send to head office of whom set this account up, keep copies of everything as well, and they normally have 8 weeks to give a decision.
Good luck. The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -

If you ticked the yes box then you cannot use optionality as an arguement as you had the option to not take the policy but selected and signed for it which indicated that you were aware it was optional and wanted to take it out.
Was she self employed? Did they advise you too take out the policy? I would go ahead with your complaint becuase of you have nothing to lose! Cheers0
